Hijama Cupping Therapy

Experience the healing benefits of this prophetic medicine practiced with modern hygiene standards

What is Hijama Therapy?

Hijama, or wet cupping therapy, is a traditional healing practice that has been used for centuries, particularly in Islamic medicine. It involves creating a vacuum on the skin using specialized cups, followed by controlled superficial incisions to remove small amounts of blood believed to contain toxins.

At Hijama & Ruqyah Foundation Bangladesh, we practice hijama following both the prophetic tradition (Sunnah) and modern clinical standards to ensure safety, hygiene, and effectiveness.

The Hijama Treatment Process

Initial Consultation for Hijama
1

Initial Consultation

The practitioner will assess your medical history, current health concerns, and determine if you are suitable for hijama therapy. Certain conditions may require special consideration or alternative approaches.

Preparation for Hijama Treatment
2

Preparation

The treatment area is thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. The patient is positioned comfortably, usually lying down on a treatment table. All equipment used is sterile and disposable to ensure maximum hygiene.

Cup Application during Hijama

Cup Application

Special cups are placed on specific points on the body, selected based on your condition and needs. A vacuum is created using a suction pump, drawing the skin slightly up into the cup. This typically remains for 3-5 minutes.

Cup Removal & Incisions

After the initial cupping, the cups are removed. Small, superficial incisions are made on the raised skin using a sterile blade or lancet. These incisions are very shallow and typically cause minimal discomfort.

Second Cup Application during Hijama

Second Cup Application

Cups are reapplied to the same area, now drawing out small amounts of blood containing toxins. This therapeutic bloodletting is the core element of wet cupping therapy that distinguishes it from dry cupping.
